Design Wall Monday - More "Sew & Tell"
I've recently decided to step up the progress, or rather the lack there of, on my Hand-Applique Quilt inspired by the book "Affairs of the Heart" by Aie Rossman. I say "inspired by" because I have found myself making modifications and changes to many of her blocks. Adding a little embroidery here, taking this piece out, adding that piece. It's been fun! I am also going to be finishing the quilt in a totally different setting, with a totally different border as well. There are 36 total and I'm actively needling away at my 9th block. I'm going to need more than 36 for what I'm doing with mine. There's a quilt show here in NY in 2015 that I hope to enter this quilt when finished. My calculations tell me I should reach for at least 2 FINISHED a month between now and then. Here's hoping!

Your choice of brightly colored fabrics are quite striking against the black fabric. I need to calculate a time frame to finish my quilt for a 2014 show. Your hand applique quilt will make a great quilt show entry. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill! I'm glad I calculated when I did! I just kept thinking that I had PLENTY of time. Even 2 blocks a month seems like a lot to me. I need to ensure that I leave time for construction, borders, other "tweaks" I am doing, the quilting and the binding! I really need to step it up! Funny to think with 2 YEARS to finish! LOL
DeleteJust beautiful! I am partial to any applique on a black background! Good luck, it will be amazing
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne! This is my first ever hand applique project and I'm VERY happy that I chose black for the background. Every piece added is exciting with the high contrast!
DeleteLook at that lovely beautiful garden of quilt blocks! You rock it girl!
ReplyDeleteThank you DAHling...I need another hunka that yella!! ;-)
DeleteVery pretty and it is very striking! Love the art in each block.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was intimidating to tackle as a "first" applique project, but the artwork (the scrolls and hearts) were exactly what pulled me in.
DeleteThis is stunning! I am loving those bold colors on the black background....great job you are doing...I am looking forward to seeing you finish this one.
ReplyDeleteHey, way to go!! Those look fantastic. I've got this project - only two finished, and it's not yet on my priority list, so I really love seeing all your blocks there. Kudos. :D Can't wait to see how you're going to change it up! (I'm planning on being boring and just doing it "as is".) So glad you linked up at BOMs Away.
